New rowing biography! Irene Forey

Irene’s international rowing career may have been short (just one year – 1951 – and further limited by her then catching TB), but her wider contribution to women’s rowing was substantial, both at Alpha Women’s ARC and beyond, and continued right up to her early death in 1985.

It’s been a great pleasure to document Irene’s rowing biography here as a result of her daughter Christina getting in touch. On which note, I’m always keen to fill in as many pieces of the ‘jigsaw’ of GB women’s international rowing as possible, so if you’ve rowed for GB or you have archival material or memories about someone else who who has, please do get in touch!
