After first getting into a racing boat at the tender age of eight when her dad’s veteran crew needed a cox, Claire went on to represent GB three times at junior and senior level, winning two silver medals in the lightweight coxless four at the World Rowing Championships in 1991 and 1992
A member of University of London Women’s BC and later Thames RC, she also rowed for Wales at the 1994 Commonwealth Regatta in a four with her sister, and raced at the World Masters Regatta with her mum. To round off her family rowing connections, she and her husband met when they were both members of the GB junior team in 1989.
